Messy charcoal, graphite sticks and sloppy watercolours are the mediums I enjoy working with although at the moment I’m getting more involved with printmaking. Layers of marks are applied and reworked using unconventional etching techniques and monotype until the desired effect is achieved.
I’ve just returned from a charity trek to the Grand Canyon where I saw the results of a massive storm they had last year on the Havasupai Indian reservation. There was an ominous darkening of the sky as we emerged out of the Canyon at the end of a long days trekking, perfect stimulus for new work and a complete contrast to cosy Flatford Mill where I’d seen floods months before.
